Summary

Senior SEND Teaching Assistant - Southall

Location: Southall, West London

Pay: £100-£110 per day PAYE

Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

There comes a point in a Teaching Assistant career when you're ready for more.

More involvement in planning support. More responsibility for interventions. More opportunities to use the SEND knowledge you've developed. And more experience that can help you progress towards your longer-term career goals.

We're recruiting a Senior SEND Teaching Assistant in Southall for a full-time, long-term opportunity within a primary school.

This position is aimed at someone who already understands the classroom and is ready to start building the skills required for more senior or specialist positions within education.

You'll still spend plenty of time working directly with children, but you'll have opportunities to become more involved in how their support is delivered.

Working alongside teachers and the SENCO, you could:

- Take responsibility for targeted SEND interventions

- Deliver structured 1:1 and small-group sessions

- Support pupils working towards EHCP targets

- Identify when activities need adapting

- Help prepare differentiated resources

- Track progress and maintain intervention records

- Provide detailed observations to teachers and the SENCO

- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour

- Encourage communication, independence and social development

- Share successful approaches with other support staff

- Contribute to discussions around individual pupil support

- Work collaboratively with specialist professionals

You'll be encouraged to use your experience, contribute ideas and develop confidence taking ownership of specific areas of pupil support.

You'll support children with a variety of additional needs, which may include:

Autism (ASC) • ADHD • SEMH • Speech and Language Needs • Communication Difficulties • Learning Needs • Sensory Differences

Every pupil will require something slightly different.

One child may need visual structure and predictable routines. Another may require support regulating emotions before they're ready to learn. Others may need academic work broken into smaller steps or additional help communicating their needs.

Understanding those differences - and knowing when to change your approach - is where your existing experience becomes particularly valuable.

Perhaps you're currently a Teaching Assistant but would eventually like to become an HLTA.

You might want to specialise further in SEND, move towards pastoral or intervention work, or eventually consider teacher training.

You don't need to have your entire career mapped out.

What matters is finding opportunities that allow you to keep adding to your experience.

This role can help you develop skills in:

- Leading interventions

- SEND provision

- Progress monitoring

- EHCP support

- Adaptive learning

- Behaviour and emotional regulation

- Working with specialist professionals

- Supporting and sharing practice with colleagues

Those are experiences you can take forward into your next education role.

We're particularly interested in hearing from experienced:

SEN Teaching Assistants • SEND Teaching Assistants • Learning Support Assistants • 1:1 TAs • Specialist Teaching Assistants • Learning Mentors

You should already have experience supporting children with additional needs and feel confident working within a busy school environment.

You'll also need to be patient, organised and comfortable communicating with teachers and other professionals.

Formal leadership experience isn't essential.

We're looking for someone who has developed strong practical experience and is now ready to step up, learn more and take on greater responsibility.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.

This isn't simply another Teaching Assistant placement.

It's an opportunity to deliberately build the experience that could help you move forward within education.

You'll receive £100-£110 per day PAYE, weekly pay, no umbrella company deductions and a full-time, long-term placement where you can become an established member of the school team.

If you've already built a strong foundation in SEND and are ready to see where that experience could take you next, we'd like to hear from you.
