Role Purpose
The Sales Operations Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, performance, and development of the Sales Operations function at Millgate.
This role ensures the smooth, accurate, and efficient processing of all sales-related activities, enabling the Sales team to maximise revenue while maintaining high levels of operational accuracy, supplier coordination, and customer satisfaction.
The role acts as a key bridge between Sales, Finance, Logistics, and Service Delivery, ensuring all operational processes are aligned, scalable, and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
• Lead, coach, and develop the Sales Operations team, setting clear expectations for performance, quality, and productivity
• Conduct regular one-to-ones, reviews, and development planning
• Foster a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative team culture
• Support onboarding and training of new team members
• Ensure strong communication standards across internal and external stakeholders
Operational Management & Process Excellence
• Oversee order processing activities (EDI, supplier portals, purchase orders, credit card transactions) ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Manage sales order lifecycle from quote acceptance through to delivery and invoicing
• Ensure timely and accurate communication of ETAs, back orders, and delivery updates to the Sales team
• Monitor and improve key operational KPIs (order accuracy, processing time, backlog levels, etc.)
• Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
• Ensure all processes are documented, standardised, and compliant with internal controls and ISO 9001
Sales Enablement & Business Support
• Provide operational support to Account Managers to maximise customer opportunities and conversion rates
• Ensure CRM/ERP (e.g. NetSuite) data accuracy, order integrity, and pipeline hygiene
• Support pricing, deal registrations, and bid submissions where required
• Act as the escalation point for operational issues impacting the Sales Operations function
Supplier & Partner Management
• Build effective working relationships with key suppliers and distributors
• Ensure supplier SLAs and delivery expectations are met and managed
• Escalate and resolve supply chain issues effectively
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Working
• Work closely with:
o Sales & Account Management teams
o Stores & Logistics
o Finance (billing, margins, credit control alignment)
o Service Desk, Engineering and Professional Services (for services and project orders)
• Ensure alignment between what is sold and what can be operationally delivered
