We are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Farnworth, Bolton. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting children with additional needs while also helping them access the wider mainstream classroom.
You will be supporting two children with SEN within a mainstream classroom, helping them to engage with their learning, build confidence and make progress alongside their peers.
The Role
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
- Supporting two SEN children within the mainstream classroom
- Delivering small-group interventions, with a particular focus on phonics
- Helping pupils develop their literacy and communication skills
- Supporting children to remain focused and engaged during lessons
- Adapting activities and resources to suit individual needs
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
- Providing encouragement and helping pupils build confidence and independence

- Experienced working with children with SEN
- Confident supporting pupils within a mainstream primary setting
- Comfortable delivering phonics or small-group interventions
- Patient, calm and approachable
- Proactive and able to use their own initiative
- Reliable and committed to providing consistency for the children
- A positive team player who works well alongside teaching staff
Previous experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school is highly desirable.
