A welcoming and supportive SEN school in Heywood is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis. The school provides a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, supporting every child to develop their confidence, independence and learning.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils with their learning and wider development, working closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised support throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and adapt activities to meet individual needs
- Supporting children with communication, social and emotional development
- Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting the implementation of individual support plans and EHCP targets
- Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN support team
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning

- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN
