Summary

Millfield School is seeking an organised and detail-focused Archivist to preserve, develop and showcase our rich heritage. From historic photographs and artefacts to digital collections, this role plays a key part in ensuring our story is protected and shared for generations to come.

Job Responsibilities

• Catalogue, organise and maintain archival collections (including photographs, publications, artefacts and digital records)

• Ensure safe storage and preservation of materials in line with archival best practice

• Manage and develop cataloguing systems and databases

• Respond to internal and external archive enquiries and provide historical research

• Oversee digitisation projects and maintain digital archive systems

• Curate displays, exhibitions and content for publications and alumni engagement

• Support records management, retention and GDPR compliance across the School

• Work collaboratively with Development, Alumni and Marketing teams

About You

• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

• Confident managing both physical and digital records

• Excellent research and written communication skills

• Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately

• Experience in an archive, museum or heritage setting (desirable)

• Knowledge of archival standards, cataloguing systems or records management (desirable)

Working Hours & Salary

• 17.75 hours per week, term time only

• Flexible working pattern within Monday–Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm

• Salary: £13.94 per hour, equating to approximately £9,310.84 per annum (inclusive of holiday pay). The final salary may vary slightly depending on how the 17.75 hours are distributed across the week.
