What We're Looking For
• At least 2 years' experience within the last 5 years in residential childcare
• At least 1 year's experience supervising or managing staff within a care setting
• Previous experience managing or deputising within a children's home
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to achieve within the required regulatory timescale
• Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and relevant statutory guidance
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, missing-from-care procedures and multi-agency working
• Experience with care planning, placement matching, risk assessment and reviewing outcomes
• Experience preparing for or contributing to Ofsted inspections and regulatory monitoring
• Ability to lead safer recruitment, supervision, appraisal, workforce development and performance management
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, including regulatory reporting
• Ability to manage budgets, staffing resources and operational risks effectively
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as required

Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of the new 4-bed EBD children's home
• Ensure the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
• Lead the development of a safe, nurturing and child-centred environment
• Maintain effective oversight of safeguarding, risk, care planning, staffing, records and quality assurance
• Ensure children receive individualised care that reflects their needs, wishes, feelings and aspirations
• Lead effective admissions, transitions and placement planning
• Act as the operational safeguarding lead, ensuring concerns and incidents are identified, recorded, escalated and appropriately managed
• Ensure robust risk assessments, behaviour support plans and care plans are implemented and regularly reviewed
• Recruit, lead, supervise, develop and performance-manage the staff team
• Ensure safe staffing levels, effective rotas, appropriate qualifications and ongoing staff development
• Promote a reflective, accountable and supportive team culture
• Oversee Regulation 44 visits and Regulation 45 quality of care reviews, ensuring actions are followed through
• Maintain accurate records, notifications and regulatory reports
• Manage the home's budget, resources, premises and operational requirements effectively
• Build strong relationships with children, families, social workers, placing authorities, schools, health professionals and other agencies
• Work closely with the Responsible Individual to manage regulatory risks, improvement plans and service development
• Prepare the home for Ofsted inspection and maintain high standards of compliance
• Drive continuous improvement and ensure the service delivers positive outcomes for children and young people
