Summary

What's involved with this role:

Triumph Consultants are looking for a Debt Recovery Officer to recover and enforce debts on behalf of the council, including Council Tax, NEC Sundry Debts and other debt related tasks. Contract is for 3 months in Wembley, HA9 0FJ .

Debt Recovery Officer - Housing Benefit

Pay Rate: £20.08 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 36 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Contract length: 3 months

Location: Wembley, HA9 0FJ

Hybrid, 1 to 2 days in office per week

Basic DBS at offer

Key requirements:

Experience with Housing Benefit debt recovery and working knowledge of NEC system essential

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and achieve positive debt recovery outcomes.

Strong numerical, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of delivering high-quality customer service within a diverse community environment.

Understanding of debt recovery and enforcement processes relating to County Court and/or Magistrates’ Court procedures.

Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures to debt recovery activities.

Key responsibilities

Recover outstanding debts and maximise income collection across assigned debt portfolios.

Ensure debt recovery and enforcement actions are carried out in line with legislation, case law, Council policies and procedures.

Assess cases objectively and determine appropriate recovery and enforcement action.

Liaise with customers, enforcement agents, courts and other stakeholders to resolve debt cases effectively.

Maintain accurate records and provide advice and support to customers while balancing the Council’s duty to collect revenue.
