Pay Rate: £23.81 per hour PAYE, with flexible holiday pay
Hours: 36 hours per week
Length of Contract: 7 months
Location: Wembley, London HA9 0FJ
Hybrid Arrangements: 3 days per week in office/on visits
Our client is looking for an experienced Trading Standards professional to join a busy regulatory service, with opportunities available at Enforcement Officer, Senior and Principal level depending on experience and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing:
Investigating breaches of consumer protection legislation, including fair trading, product safety, scams, rogue trading and underage sales.
Conducting inspections, test purchasing, sampling, market surveillance and investigations.
Providing advice to businesses and supporting Primary Authority relationships.
Gathering and managing evidence, conducting interviews and preparing detailed investigation/infringement reports.
Taking proportionate enforcement action, including statutory/fixed penalty notices, cautions and prosecution cases.
Preparing evidence and appearing in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts where required.
Working closely with businesses, the public, Police, other authorities and regulatory partners.
Supporting and mentoring junior officers, with Senior/Principal officers taking on additional leadership and specialist responsibilities.
What you’ll need:
Current, in-depth knowledge of consumer protection law, enforcement powers and relevant legislation.
Proven experience undertaking Trading Standards/regulatory investigations and enforcement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal confidently with challenging situations.
Ability to manage a demanding workload, prioritise effectively and work with minimal supervision.
A full UK driving licence and ability to drive the service vehicle.
Relevant CPD. DCA/CTS qualification or equivalent required for progression to GPO3; Chartered Trading Standards Practitioner or weights & measures qualification for GPO4.
Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List check required
