A welcoming SEN school in Prestwich is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school provides a supportive, structured and nurturing environment for pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and a range of complex additional needs.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, and build their independence. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised, consistent and high-quality support.
Key responsibilities:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with PMLD and complex additional needs
• Supporting pupils to access learning and participate in classroom activities
• Assisting with communication, social and emotional development
• Supporting pupils with personal care and day-to-day needs where required
• Supporting mobility and physical development in line with individual care plans
• Helping pupils develop independence and confidence
• Following individual learning, care and support plans
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff
• Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and activities throughout the school day

The successful applicant will:
• Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, PMLD, care or support setting
• Have a patient, calm and nurturing approach
• Be confident supporting children with complex physical, communication and learning needs
• Be comfortable supporting personal care where required
• Be reliable, resilient and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability
• Previous experience supporting pupils with PMLD is desirable
• Relevant SEN, care or supporting teaching and learning qualifications are desirable but not essential
