About the role
We're recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a permanent position at a specialist independent school near Kingston. You'll work within small, carefully structured classes supporting academically able young people who thrive in a specialist environment outside mainstream education. This is meaningful work supporting individual learners to discover who they can become.
As a teaching assistant in a specialist SEND setting, you'll provide dedicated support to students who learn best when understood as individuals. You'll help pupils access a rich academic curriculum, build their confidence, and develop pathways forward. Working in small classes with experienced staff, you'll get to know each student deeply and play a crucial role in their learning journey.
Your role as a specialist teaching assistant will include:
Supporting individual learners in small class settings
Helping pupils access a full academic curriculum
Building positive relationships grounded in understanding each student's needs and strengths
Providing learning support tailored to individual profiles
Supporting pupils' wellbeing and emotional development
Contributing to a safe, encouraging learning environment
