About the Role

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for

Days Operators with a valid B1 Counterbalance FLT licence to join a long-established industrial recycling business in North Derbyshire.

This is a

multi-skilled operational role where you'll be assessed on your skills, experience and suitability and could be required to work across different areas of the site.

The role will

predominately involve sorting and auditing different types of batteries, working alongside a conveyor as materials come through the process. You may also be required to operate a

Counterbalance FLT as part of your wider duties, so a valid B1 licence and previous FLT experience are essential.

We're looking for people who are

flexible, practical and happy to get stuck in, rather than someone looking purely for a traditional forklift driving role.

Working Environment – Please Read

  • Physically demanding role within a specialist industrial recycling environment.

  • Hot and dusty working environment.

  • Work will predominantly involve

    • standing at a conveyor and sorting/auditing batteries as they come through the process.

  • Full PPE and specialist respiratory protection required and provided.

  • Successful applicants will complete a blood test as part of the induction, followed by regular occupational health monitoring.

  • A full site tour is required before starting so you can see the environment and duties first-hand.

  • Two x 1-hour breaks during the shift, with workers required to shower and change PPE during each break.

  • PPE and laundry facilities provided on site.

    • The Role

    As a

    Days Operator, your duties may include:

    • Sorting and auditing different types of batteries as they move through the production process.

    • Working alongside a conveyor and identifying/sorting materials correctly.

    • Carrying out checks to ensure materials meet the required standards.

    • Operating a

      • B1 Counterbalance FLT when required.

    • Moving materials safely around the site.

    • Loading and unloading vehicles.

    • Supporting different areas of the operation depending on business requirements.

    • Carrying out daily equipment/pre-use checks and reporting defects.

    • Working safely around heavy machinery, production operatives and other site vehicles.

    • Maintaining high housekeeping standards.

    • Following all site Health & Safety procedures and wearing the required PPE.

      • A valid B1 Counterbalance FLT licence and previous Counterbalance FLT experience are essential.

      Please note: This is

      not a full-time forklift driving position. The role is predominantly operational/sorting work, with the FLT licence providing additional flexibility across the site.
