Summary
Teaching Assistant (1:1 & Class Teaching Assistant) Hours: 31.25 hours per week, for 38.2 weeks a year (26/27 academic year: term time plus one Inset day). Working Hours: 08:30 to 15:15 Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break.Contract: Fixed-Term until 31st August 2027 (with potential to extend)Pay scale: Surrey S3 £25,133 FTE (£18,382 actual annual salary).At St Ignatius Catholic Primary School, we believe that all children should be given the opportunity to excel. The candidate will be providing both targeted 1:1 support for a child in Upper Key Stage 2 and general classroom assistance. Experience of working with children with SEND would be an advantage, but it is not essential. You will work closely with the Class Teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) to break down learning, build pupil confidence, and promote independence as pupils prepare for their final years of primary school. While the primary placement for this role is in Upper Key Stage 2, staff are expected to work across other year groups as school needs arise. Key Responsibilities:Dedicated 1:1 Support: Deliver tailored learning, fostering the child's confidence, self-esteem, and independence.Classroom Learning Support: Support the Class Teacher in delivering high-quality Key Stage 2 lessons, working with small groups or individual pupils Targeted Interventions: Carry out structured academic or social/emotional intervention activities set by the Class Teacher or SENDCoInclusion & Classroom Environment: Assist in creating an inclusive, stimulating learning environment where resources are accessible and learning targets are clear.Behavior & Wellbeing: Support the teacher in maintaining positive behaviour management in line with the school’s ethos and policies, serving as a positive role model.Home & School Liaison: Assist the teacher in building positive relationships with parents/carers, contributing to progress feedback when required.Safeguarding & Professional Standards: Uphold exemplary standards of professional conduct, keeping up to date with child protection, welfare requirements, and safeguarding procedures.If you are interested in the position, we encourage you to contact us to discuss further, and if possible visit the school to meet our great team and fantastic children, by contacting the school office.
