Summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Product Manager to join a forward-thinking, market-leading UK supplier and distributor based in Coventry. This is a full-time, permanent, office-based position, offering a salary of £45,000-£50,000pa depending on experience, plus benefits. The Commercial Product Manager is responsible for the commercial performance, profitability, governance and strategic development of our client’s product portfolio.
The role will ensure products are positioned to deliver sustainable profitable growth through effective pricing, strong market knowledge, accurate product information and a clear understanding of customer requirements.
Working closely with the Sales Team, supply chain, marketing, operations, quality and senior leadership, the Commercial Product Manager will identify opportunities to improve product performance, margin contribution and customer value whilst supporting the successful introduction of new products and ongoing development of existing ranges.
The role will also act as a key representative of the Commercial function within Business Systems projects, ensuring product management, customer requirements, pricing structures and product data are fully aligned with the ERP implementation, OpenECX development and wider digital transformation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Product Ownership
• Take ownership of the commercial performance of assigned product categories.
• Monitor sales trends, gross profit, margin performance and market opportunities.
• Develop category strategies that support company objectives and profitable growth.
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews and make recommendations for product improvement, expansion, optimisation or rationalisation.
• Evaluate new product opportunities and support the development of commercial business cases.
• Ensure products remain commercially competitive whilst supporting margin objectives.
• Support the delivery of strategic growth initiatives across Plumbing, Heating, HVAC, Fittings and emerging product categories.
Business Systems, ERP & OpenECX Development
• Act as an active member of the Business Systems Team, representing the commercial and product management requirements of the business.
• Attend and contribute to Business Systems meetings, workshops and project reviews.
• Take ownership of product-related actions and deliverables arising from Business Systems projects.
• Act as a key stakeholder within the company's ERP implementation programme.
• Support the development and maintenance of product structures, attributes, pricing frameworks and commercial reporting requirements within ERP systems.
• Assist in defining business requirements relating to product management, pricing, reporting and customer data.
• Support testing, validation and user acceptance activities associated with ERP implementation.
• Drive continuous improvement of OpenECX content, customer integrations and product information quality.
• Promote system adoption, process compliance and data accuracy throughout the business.
• Support wider business process improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, customer experience and profitability.
