A welcoming education setting in Sefton is looking for a Learning Support Teaching Assistant to join its team as soon as possible.
You'll work alongside teachers to help pupils engage with learning, overcome barriers and develop the confidence and independence they need to make progress.
It's a hands-on role that can also provide an excellent foundation for a future career in teaching, SEND, pastoral support, behaviour mentoring or wider education.
You'll support pupils both in the classroom and through targeted individual or small-group work.
Your responsibilities could include:
- Supporting pupils during lessons and classroom activities.
- Providing 1:1 and small-group learning support.
- Helping pupils understand instructions and stay engaged.
- Breaking tasks into manageable steps.
- Reinforcing literacy, numeracy and wider learning.
- Supporting children with additional or SEND needs.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Helping pupils develop confidence and independence.
- Supporting individual learning targets.
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff.
- Monitoring progress and sharing observations with the wider team.
You may already have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN TA, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or Support Worker.
We're also interested in people whose experience with children and young people has come from care, coaching, mentoring, early years or community settings.
Most importantly, you'll need to be patient, positive and reliable, with the ability to build good relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
You'll also need to be willing to learn and adapt your approach because different pupils will need different types of support.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
This isn't simply an opportunity to gain classroom experience.
You'll develop practical skills in areas such as supporting learning, SEND, behaviour, communication, emotional regulation and individual interventions while learning from experienced education professionals.
