Summary

Holistic Recruiters Ltd is seeking an experienced Mental Health Deputy Service Manager to assist the Service manager in leading the operation of Crowlin Recovery House, an NHS-commissioned, 24-hour short-term residential service providing a safe, therapeutic and trauma-informed alternative to hospital admission for adults experiencing mental health crisis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Service Manager, Deputy Registered Manager, Senior Mental Health Practitioner, Mental Health Team Leader or experienced Care Manager to play a key role in developing and delivering an innovative crisis-recovery service.

Job Description

The Deputy Mental Health Service Manager will work closely with the Service Manager to support the day-to-day operational leadership and management of Crowlin Recovery House.

The post holder will help ensure the delivery of a safe, compassionate, person-centred and recovery-focused service for adults experiencing mental health crisis. They will support the embedding of trauma-informed and recovery-focused practice across the service, ensuring guests are treated with dignity, respect and compassion while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, risk management and safeguarding arrangements.

The Deputy Manager will provide visible leadership to staff, support effective service delivery, monitor quality and performance, and deputise for the Service Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the Recovery House, ensuring safe and effective service delivery 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

• Deputise for the Service Manager during periods of absence and take responsibility for operational decisions when required.

• Provide effective leadership, supervision, coaching and support to recovery practitioners and other operational staff.

• Promote a trauma-informed, recovery-focused and person-centred culture across the service.

• Support the delivery of high-quality assessments, risk assessments, personalised support plans, recovery plans and meaningful activities.

• Ensure guests receive appropriate support to maintain choice, control, independence and community connections.

• Work closely with NHS Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams (CRHTTs), Community Mental Health Teams, commissioners, social care, housing providers, emergency services and voluntary-sector organisations.

• Support safe referrals, admissions, reviews, transfers and discharge planning.

• Monitor safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate action, escalation and documentation in line with organisational and statutory requirements.

• Support the management of incidents, accidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and significant events, ensuring learning is identified and implemented.

• Monitor service records, documentation and performance information, ensuring information is accurate, timely and appropriately recorded.

• Support the Service Manager in monitoring NHS contractual KPIs and reporting requirements, including relevant MHSDS data.

• Assist with workforce planning, recruitment, induction, staff allocation, rota management and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.

• Conduct regular staff supervision, support performance management and contribute to annual appraisals and development planning.

• Ensure staff maintain mandatory and specialist training requirements, including safeguarding, trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, autism awareness, de-escalation, equality and diversity and health and safety.

• Promote effective communication, teamwork and professional standards across the service.

• Support the Service Manager with budget monitoring, staffing costs and expenditure control.

• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency, guest experience and recovery outcomes.

• Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Participate in the senior management on-call rota and provide operational support during out-of-hours periods when required.

• Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the safe and effective operation of the service.
