I'm a 23-year-old woman looking for a friendly and reliable Personal Assistant to support me for 12 hours per week.

I enjoy getting out and about and spending time doing activities such as walking, pottery, climbing and swimming. I'm looking for someone who is kind, caring and easy to get along with, who can support me with everyday tasks, attending appointments, and enjoying social activities in the community.

The role is flexible and offers the opportunity to build a positive working relationship while helping me maintain my independence and do the things I enjoy.

Duties will include supporting with meal preparation, helping with jobs around the house, food shopping and organising activities, e.g.

• Household cleaning and general upkeep

• Meal preparation and shopping

• Attending appointments

• Public transport and travel planning support

• Accessing social and recreational activities

• Promoting independence and wellbeing

Activities may include walks at a nature reserve, pottery, climbing or swimming. It will also involve supporting visits for medical appointments and day trips out.

There would be no personal care or medication requirements as part of the role.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Friendly, reliable and patient approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support someone to access and enjoy community activities.
  • Comfortable assisting with household tasks, meal preparation and shopping.
  • Able to accompany and support attendance at medical appointments and day trips.
Desirable
  • Previous experience supporting adults in a care, support, or personal assistant role
  • Understanding and experience of neurodivergence and supporting young people
  • An interest in activities such as walking, nature, pottery, climbing or swimming.
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to support a variety of activities and outings.
Rate of Pay

Self Employed £18.76 per hourEmployed £15.55 per hourA higher hourly rate is available for self-employed carers, reflecting that they are responsible for their own holiday provision, National Insurance, pension arrangements, and other employment-related costs. Self-employed carers must also demonstrate that they are fully ensured, and registered with HMRC.Employees receive these benefits through their employment package, which is reflected in the employed rate.

Hours of Work

12 hours per week; shifts flexible and fully negotiable, however a mixture of weekday and weekend days would be advantageous in order to support different activity types.

ExpensesYou will be reimbursed for any reasonable and pre-approved expenses incurred in the course of carrying out your duties. Where a personal vehicle is used to transport a service user and mileage reimbursement is to be claimed, this arrangement must be authorised in advance, documented within the service user's care plan, and processed in accordance with the organisation's payroll procedures.Holiday EntitlementEmployees and workers in the UK are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave per year on an FTE basis. Part time roles will be calculated pro rata. Self-employed individuals are not entitled to statutory paid holiday leave, and any time off is unpaid unless they make their own financial arrangements.Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be arranged and paid for by the employer. Where children under the age of 18 live in the household, the successful applicant will need an Enhanced DBS check that includes both the Adults' and Children's Barred Lists. In these circumstances, employment cannot commence within the family home until the DBS clearance has been received.
