I am a disabled adult with chronic health conditions and a parent to a young autistic daughter. I am looking for a reliable and compassionate Personal Assistant to support me with everyday activities, maintain my safety and independence, and assist me in carrying out my parenting responsibilities.The role is for 23 hours per week during term time and 38 hours per week during school holidays. I am flexible about how the hours are arranged and will consider reasonable schedule adjustments for the right candidate. Once agreed, reliable attendance and good timekeeping will be essential.The ideal candidate will be organised, enthusiastic and proactive. You should enjoy creating a tidy and organised home environment and be able to recognise practical tasks that need completing.Healthy living and nutritious cooking are important to our family. I would particularly welcome someone who shares these interests and enjoys preparing healthy meals.Duties
- Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility.
- Help me move around safely at home and in the community.
- Support me to carry out my parenting responsibilities for my daughter including help for school runs.
- Provide practical assistance with family routines, activities and outings.
- Prepare healthy and nutritious meals in accordance with our dietary preferences.
- Help with household tasks, including cleaning, tidying and organising.
- Assist during shopping trips, appointments, day trips and community activities.
- Help organise paperwork, documents, appointments and household tasks.
- Provide companionship and appropriate emotional support.
- Follow agreed routines and safety arrangements.

- Previous experience in personal assistance, social care, disability support or autism support would be helpful but is not essential if you have the right qualities and willingness to learn.
Rate of Pay
15.55 - Self Employed
12.89 - EmployedA higher hourly rate is available for self-employed carers, reflecting that they are responsible for their own holiday provision, National Insurance, pension arrangements, and other employment-related costs. Self-employed carers must also demonstrate that they are fully ensured, and registered with HMRC.Employees receive these benefits through their employment package, which is reflected in the employed rate.Hours of Work

School Holidays: 38 hours per weekThe schedule of work is negotiable and hours may be split amongst two candidates to ensure holiday/sickness cover.

ExpensesYou will be reimbursed for any reasonable and pre-approved expenses incurred in the course of carrying out your duties. Where a personal vehicle is used to transport a service user and mileage reimbursement is to be claimed, this arrangement must be authorised in advance, documented within the service user's care plan, and processed in accordance with the organisation's payroll procedures.Holiday EntitlementEmployees and workers in the UK are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave per year on an FTE basis. Part time roles will be calculated pro rata. Self-employed individuals are not entitled to statutory paid holiday leave, and any time off is unpaid unless they make their own financial arrangements.Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be arranged and paid for by the employer. Where children under the age of 18 live in the household, the successful applicant will need an Enhanced DBS check that includes both the Adults' and Children's Barred Lists. In these circumstances, employment cannot commence within the family home until the DBS clearance has been received. ReferencesThis post is subject to satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.Probationary PeriodThis post is subject to a three month probation period. The three-month probationary period gives both you and your employer the opportunity to ensure the role is a good fit, identify any training or support needs, and settle into the working relationship.Mandatory TrainingWhere the duties of this role include food preparation, moving and handling, the use of hazardous substances (including household cleaning products), or the handling of medication, you will be required to complete any relevant mandatory training and competency assessments.
