Lunch: 30-minute unpaid break
We are currently recruiting for an
Electrical Assembly Technician / Panel Builder to join a growing engineering business based in
Smethwick.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in
electrical assembly, control panel wiring or panel building who is looking for a hands-on role within a technical and varied environment.
Experience within gate automation or access control would be an advantage, but
full industry experience is not essential, with training available for the right candidate.
The Role
You will be responsible for assembling, wiring and testing electrical control panels and associated components used within automated gate, barrier and access control systems.
Key responsibilities include:
• Building and wiring electrical control panels
• Wiring motor controllers, safety devices and control interfaces
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Installing and wiring photocells, safety edges, intercoms, keypads and loop detectors
• Carrying out functional testing of completed panels
• Testing motor direction, limit switches and safety circuits
• Assisting with basic electrical fault-finding and diagnostics
• Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard
• Working closely with engineering and installation teams
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience in
electrical assembly, panel building or electrical wiring
• The ability to read and follow electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of low-voltage electrical control systems
• Experience using hand tools, crimpers and cable preparation equipment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in their workmanship
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A reliable and positive approach to work
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but is
not essential:
• Automated gates or barriers
• Access control systems
• Security systems
• Door entry systems
• Control panel wiring
• Electrical motors and safety systems
• Photocells and safety edges
• Loop detectors
• Intercom or GSM entry systems
• PLCs or programmable controllers
• NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or similar electrical qualifications
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
Break: 30-minute lunch
The additional time worked Monday to Thursday allows for an
early finish at 3:30pm every Friday.
