We are seeking an experienced and proactive Multi-Skilled Electrical & Mechanical Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of industrial effluent treatment systems. The role involves working on a wide range of equipment including Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units, disc filters, chemical dosing systems, pumps, conveyors, MCC panels, instrumentation, and control systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for both mechanical and electrical aspects of projects, ensuring systems are installed, commissioned, and maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
-Install, assemble, and commission industrial effluent treatment equipment including DAF units, disc filters, pumps, mixers, screens, and chemical dosing systems.
-Install and terminate electrical equipment including motors, sensors, instrumentation, control panels, and field devices.
-Assist with the installation of MCCs, control panels, cable containment, and power and control cabling.
-Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and commissioning documentation.
-Perform equipment testing, fault finding, and functional checks during commissioning activities.
-Support process optimisation and performance testing during system start-up.
Maintenance & Service
-Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on customer sites.
-Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and process-related faults.
-Maintain pumps, valves, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, instrumentation, and treatment equipment.
-Investigate system failures and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
-Complete service reports and maintenance records accurately and promptly.
Electrical Responsibilities
-Fault find on single and three-phase systems.
-Test and inspect electrical installations and equipment.
-Work with PLC-controlled systems and process instrumentation.
-Calibrate sensors, flow meters, level controls, pressure transmitters, and dosing equipment.
-Assist with modifications and upgrades to existing electrical systems.
Mechanical Responsibilities
-Install and maintain pipework, pumps, valves, tanks, and process equipment.
-Carry out alignment, assembly, repair, and replacement of mechanical components.
-Support fabrication and modification work where required.
-Inspect and troubleshoot rotating equipment and mechanical assemblies.
Health, Safety & Compliance
-Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and site safety requirements.
-Prepare and follow risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
-Promote a strong safety culture and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
-Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and quality standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
-Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
-Proven experience within industrial effluent treatment, wastewater treatment, water treatment, or process industries.
-Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
-Experience installing and commissioning industrial process equipment.
-Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical engineering drawings.
-Knowledge of pumps, motors, control systems, instrumentation, and process equipment.
-Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
-18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
-City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
-CompEx qualification.
-PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar).
-CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, or Confined Space certification.
-Welding, fabrication, or pipefitting experience.
-Experience with industrial automation and SCADA systems.
