Hays Education are working in partnership with a specialist college in Coventry that supports young people aged 16-25 with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), physical disabilities, and communication needs.

The college is dedicated to helping learners develop their independence, employability skills, and confidence, preparing them for adulthood and future opportunities. Due to increasing demand, we are recruiting passionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to join their supportive team.

Your new role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support learners both in the classroom and during practical activities, helping them access education and develop important life skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Assisting learners with their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Promoting independence and confidence
  • Supporting students with communication and sensory needs
  • Assisting with vocational and life-skills-based learning activities
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide the best outcomes for learners

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience supporting young people or adults with additional needs
  • Previous experience within education, care, support work, youth work, or SEN settings is desirable
  • A patient, resilient, and positive attitude
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting learners with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Hays
