About the Role
We are looking for an experienced
Tenancy Officer to join a housing team on an interim basis in Hackney.
This is a patch-based housing management role for an experienced tenancy professional who can
hit the ground running and independently manage a varied caseload.
A significant part of the role will involve
end-to-end Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) case management, alongside general tenancy management, domestic abuse cases, enforcement, complaints and resident engagement.
The successful candidate will ideally have an established background working within a
local authority or housing association and will be confident managing complex housing cases involving vulnerable residents and multiple partner agencies.
Important to Know
Minimum 3-month interim assignment, with likely extension subject to performance and departmental requirements.
Based within
Hackney and responsible for a designated housing patch.
Full-time office attendance is required for the first 4 weeks, followed by hybrid working.
Strong, established
Tenancy Officer experience is essential.
Proven
end-to-end ASB case management experience is essential.
Solid general tenancy management experience is required.
You must be able to manage complex housing cases independently.
Experience working with vulnerable residents and partner agencies is essential.
Local authority or housing association experience is particularly desirable.
The successful candidate must be able to work at pace and manage a challenging caseload from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of tenancy management across a designated housing patch.
- Take full ownership of
- Investigate ASB cases thoroughly and determine appropriate interventions and actions.
- Develop and manage action plans to resolve tenancy and neighbourhood issues.
- Manage domestic abuse cases, including carrying out appropriate risk assessments.
- Represent the organisation at
- Carry out tenancy sign-ups and support residents moving into their homes.
- Conduct home visits and resident appointments as required.
- Process mutual exchanges and tenancy changes.
- Manage tenancy enforcement action in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Prepare witness statements and supporting documentation.
- Attend court proceedings and evictions where required.
- Manage resident complaints and queries through to resolution.
- Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex tenancy issues.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies when supporting vulnerable residents.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records and files.
- Ensure all resident contacts, actions and decisions are accurately recorded on relevant housing management systems.
- Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Ensure cases are progressed within appropriate timescales and organisational procedures.
- Exercise sound professional judgement when dealing with complex or sensitive cases.

Tenancy Officer who can quickly take ownership of a housing patch and manage their caseload with minimal supervision.
You will have a strong track record of managing
ASB cases from initial report through investigation, intervention and resolution, alongside solid experience across general tenancy management.
You should be confident dealing with challenging residents and sensitive situations while maintaining a professional, customer-focused approach.
Experience within a
local authority or housing association environment would be particularly valuable, as the successful candidate will be expected to understand housing management processes and contribute effectively from the beginning of the assignment.
Working Arrangements
The role is based in
Hackney and is initially fully office-based for the first four weeks to support integration into the team and familiarisation with systems and processes.
Hybrid working will be available thereafter, subject to the requirements of the service.
