We are looking for an experienced
Income Officer to join an Income Team on a 3-month temporary contract. The successful candidate will manage a patch of approximately 850 accounts across general needs, leasehold and shared ownership, supporting residents to sustain their tenancies while maximising income and reducing arrears.
Key Responsibilities
Manage rent and service charge arrears across a patch of approximately 850 general needs, leasehold and shared ownership accounts.
Action arrears cases recommended in the work tray on a weekly basis.
Manage arrears cases in line with established arrears procedures and court protocols, including DIY repossession.
Work proactively with residents to reduce arrears and support tenancy sustainment.
Support residents with Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) applications and signpost to specialist agencies where appropriate.
Make timely referrals to internal support teams and external partner agencies.
Complete income and expenditure assessments to establish affordable repayment plans.
Work closely with housing and finance teams to ensure effective income recovery.
Maintain accurate records and provide a high standard of service to residents.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in income recovery within social housing.
Experience managing arrears across
general needs, leasehold and shared ownership properties.
Good knowledge of arrears management processes and court protocols.
Strong communication and resident-facing skills.
Ability to manage a substantial caseload and work proactively with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, external agencies and partner organisations.
Passion for supporting residents and helping them sustain their tenancies.
Desirable
Experience using
Rubbix or a similar housing management system.
Experience supporting residents with DHP applications and benefits-related issues.
Experience working with vulnerable residents and specialist support agencies.
