Summary

SEND Teaching Assistants for the SPECIALIST BASE (DSP)We are seeking to appoint an experienced Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join our Specialist Base (DSP)This is a specialist role which differs from a mainstream Teaching Assistant position. Our Specialist Base supports pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who require individualised approaches and specialist strategies to meet their needs.We recognise that working within a specialist provision requires skilled, confident and proactive staff. The successful candidate will receive appropriate training and support to develop their knowledge and confidently implement the strategies required within the provision.The ability to use your initiative, respond flexibly to pupils’ needs and work independently when appropriate, while remaining an effective member of the wider team, is essential.Ideally, the successful candidate will commence on 26 October 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a fixed-term position until the end of the 2026/27 academic year.What we offer:Salary: Grade 4, Spinal Point 7 – FTE £26,403 per annum (actual salary £19,504.27 per annum).

Hours: 31.67 (31 hours 40 minutes per week) term time only (39 weeks per year).

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:20am – 3:10pm (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break). About the role:You will:• Support pupils with an ECHP for Autism and Communication and Interaction needs

• Deliver personalised provision and targeted interventions

• Be knowledgeable and confident with using a range of SEND strategies to support the children

• Use your initiative and SEND experience to help pupils achieve their targets

• Maintain accurate SEND provision records

• Meet the well-being, personal and intimate care of our pupils

• Communicate effectively with both children and adults

• Support the children at lunchtimes We are looking for someone who:• Is caring, patient, and passionate about SEND

• Is able to be proactive and put training into practice

• Able to take direction from the teacher but also use initiative and work within a team

• Has experience of working in a DSP

• Has practical knowledge of SEND strategies and interventions

• Is able to manage challenging behaviours
