Introduction
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced
AS400 Support Specialist to join an Industrial Lab Systems team on a temporary basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled
IBM AS400 / IBM i professional to play a key role in supporting business-critical operations and driving system improvements.
You will act as a specialist investigator for operational and system-related issues, working independently to identify root causes, resolve problems, and recommend both immediate corrective actions and sustainable long-term solutions.

Choice of 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm working hours.

Key Responsibilities
Investigate and resolve AS400 operational and system issues.
Identify root causes of system and process failures.
Produce reports, data extracts, and meaningful business insights.
Write, maintain, and enhance reports and queries.
Conduct data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
Monitor critical business processes and scheduled jobs.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Develop long-term solutions that reduce reliance on manual workarounds and temporary fixes.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience supporting
IBM AS400 / IBM i environments.
Strong knowledge of
SQL and report writing.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and investigate complex operational issues.
Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment would be advantageous.

Working Pattern
The role offers flexibility around working hours, with either of the following options available:
Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.
Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
