We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist education setting in Stockton-on-Tees, supporting young people across the autism spectrum with a range of additional needs.

About the Setting
The setting provides a highly personalised learning environment for autistic learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities and other additional needs. Learners are supported to develop the skills, confidence and resilience they need to progress towards their individual aspirations and lead more independent and fulfilling adult lives.
The curriculum is tailored around each learner's interests, strengths and long-term goals, with a strong emphasis on:
- Functional Maths, English and ICT
- Independence and life skills
- Employability and preparation for the workplace
- Social and communication skills
- Emotional resilience and wellbeing
- Health and active lifestyles
- Enterprise and work experience opportunities
Learners may present with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, behaviours that challenge, mental health difficulties, OCD and other associated conditions.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching and support staff to provide individualised support both in the classroom and throughout the wider learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to learners
- Supporting learners with autism and additional needs
- Helping learners engage with their individualised learning programmes
- Encouraging independence and developing practical life skills
- Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Assisting learners with functional Maths, English and ICT activities
- Supporting employability, enterprise and work experience activities
- Building positive, trusting relationships with learners
- Promoting confidence, resilience and positive behaviour
- Supporting learners to work towards their individual goals and aspirations
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals
About You

Previous experience working with autism, SEND, learning disabilities or complex needs is highly desirable, although we are also happy to consider candidates with transferable experience from care, support work, youth work, health or other relevant backgrounds.
