Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting young people with Special Educational Needs?

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN provision in Hartlepool, supporting students aged 11-19 with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. We are looking for enthusiastic, resilient and compassionate LSAs to join our team and provide high-quality support to students across the setting.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support both in the classroom and throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will:

- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with additional needs.

- Support students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.

- Assist students with their learning, development and independence.

- Encourage positive behaviour and help students manage challenging situations.

- Build positive, trusting relationships with students.

- Support classroom activities and contribute to a positive learning environment.

- Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of staff.

- Adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of each student.

- Promote students' confidence, independence and wellbeing.

About You

We are looking for LSAs who are experienced, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

You will need to be:

- Experienced working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or specialist education environment.

- Patient, empathetic and understanding.

- Resilient and confident when dealing with challenging situations.

- Able to remain calm and professional under pressure.

- Flexible and adaptable in your approach.

- A strong communicator and team player.

- Motivated to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.

- Confident supporting students with a range of complex needs.

Previous experience within an SEN, SEND, SEMH, care, support work or specialist education setting would be highly desirable.
