Summary
KPI Recruiting are on the look out for a Decrate/ Knockout Operative four our client based in Nantwich.
As a Decrate/ Knockout Operative your working hours and days are:
• Monday- Friday
• 06:00- 16:00 (may be required to work until 18:00 depending on orders)

The duties and responsibilities as a Decrate/ Knockout Operative are:
•
Remove Cheese from Crates: Safely and efficiently remove cheese blocks from designated aging or storage crates using approved equipment and manual handling techniques
•
Operate De-Crating Equipment: Once trained, operate relevant knockout, de-crating, lifting, conveyor, or handling equipment safely and efficiently
•
Handle Cheese Carefully: Ensure cheese blocks are handled correctly to prevent damage, contamination, or unnecessary product loss
•
Check Crates: Inspect empty crates for damage, cleanliness, or foreign material and remove unsuitable crates from production
•
Transfer Product: Place de-crated cheese blocks onto designated conveyors, pallets, or production areas according to production requirements
•
Visual Inspection: Check cheese blocks during knockout for visible damage, contamination, incorrect presentation, or other abnormalities and report issues to the appropriate team member
•
Product Identification: Maintain accurate product, batch, and traceability information throughout the de-crating process
•
Weight & Specification Checks: Where required and once trained, use calibrated scales to check cheese weights and ensure products meet specified requirements
•
Minimise Product Waste: Work carefully and efficiently to reduce damaged product, packaging waste, and unnecessary losses
•
Maintain Clean Working Areas: Keep the knockout and de-crating area clean, tidy, and free from product debris and unnecessary hazards
•
Equipment Cleaning: Carry out routine cleaning and sanitation of conveyors, de-crating equipment, work surfaces, crates, and surrounding areas
•
Follow Hygiene Procedures: Follow all company hygiene procedures, including handwashing, protective clothing, footwear, and other required personal hygiene controls
•
Chemical Safety: Once trained, safely use approved cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH procedures and company instructions
• Follow all company
Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and GMP procedures
• Correctly use all required PPE and protective equipment
• Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, product contamination, or quality issues immediately
• Follow safe manual-handling procedures when moving cheese, crates, and other materials
• Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and ensure no actions compromise food safety
• Work safely around moving machinery, conveyors, forklifts, and other production equipment
The ideal candidate for a Decrate/ Knockout Operative would require:
• Previous experience in a
food manufacturing, dairy, cheese production, warehouse, or packaging environment is desirable
• Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to regularly lift and move loads of up to
25 kg, where required
• Good attention to detail when handling finished cheese and checking product quality
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established production procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a production team.
• Comfortable working in a
cold, humid, and fast-paced food production environment
• Willingness to learn and become trained on production machinery and equipment
• Strong commitment to
food safety, hygiene, quality, and workplace safety
