Why this role?
Some pupils don't need a classroom full of adults - they need one person, consistently, who shows up. As a 1:1 Support Worker your entire role is focused on one named young person, typically as part of an EHCP-funded package. The relationship is the intervention - consistency, safety, and trust are the tools.
A typical week could include
- Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with an EHCP or EOTAS arrangement
- Putting their personalised learning plan into practice, day to day
- Supporting emotional regulation, communication, and engagement
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and parents
What you'll need
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Enhanced DBS with children's barred list
- Level 2 Safeguarding certificate
- Two phone-verified professional references
- Right to work in the UK
Even better if you have
- EHCP implementation experience
- SEMH, autism, or SEND specialist knowledge
- Prior 1:1 support work in education or care settings
- Communication and interaction support experience
