You don't necessarily need a management title to start becoming a leader.
Leadership can mean sharing a strategy that works. Supporting a colleague with a challenging situation. Spotting when an intervention needs adapting. Or confidently contributing your observations when a pupil's progress is being reviewed.
A primary school in Greenford is looking for an experienced Lead SEN Learning Support Assistant who is ready to build on their classroom experience and take greater responsibility within SEND provision.
You'll continue working directly with children while supporting the SENCO and teaching team to deliver consistent, high-quality SEND support.
You'll work with pupils with needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, speech and language needs, sensory differences and learning difficulties.
You'll help ensure pupils receive structured support that enables them to participate, progress and become increasingly independent.
Your role will include:
- Leading targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions.
- Supporting pupils with EHCPs and individual support plans.
- Helping teachers adapt learning for different needs.
- Monitoring progress against agreed targets.
- Recording observations and contributing to reviews.
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Promoting communication, confidence and independence.
- Working alongside the SENCO to coordinate effective interventions.
- Modelling positive SEND practice.
- Sharing strategies and ideas with other support colleagues.
- Working with families and external professionals where appropriate.
- Helping maintain consistently high expectations for SEND provision.
This opportunity could suit you if you've spent time working as a:
SEND Teaching Assistant • SEN TA • Learning Support Assistant • 1:1 TA • Higher Level Teaching Assistant • Specialist Teaching Assistant
You don't necessarily need previous formal leadership experience.
What matters is that you've developed strong SEND knowledge and now feel ready to contribute more.
You'll need to be:
- Experienced in supporting children with additional needs.
- Confident working independently and collaboratively.
- Comfortable sharing ideas and observations.
- Organised and able to monitor interventions effectively.
- Patient, resilient and emotionally aware.
- Positive about inclusion and ambitious for pupils with SEND.
- Keen to continue developing professionally.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
If you're considering future progression into HLTA work, specialist SEND support, pastoral leadership or other SEND-focused positions, this role can help you build valuable experience.
You'll receive:
- £100-£110 per day PAYE.
- Weekly PAYE pay.
- No umbrella company deductions.
- A full-time, long-term placement.
- Support from an experienced school SEND team.
- Opportunities for professional development.
- Dedicated consultant support.
If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for greater responsibility within SEND in Greenford, we'd love to hear from you.
