A supportive primary school in Hayes is looking for an experienced SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for children with additional needs.
Working closely with the SENCO and class teachers, you'll deliver structured interventions, monitor progress and help ensure pupils receive support that moves them forward.
You'll work individually and in small groups with pupils who may have Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, sensory differences and learning difficulties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering structured SEND interventions.
- Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support.
- Working towards individual and EHCP outcomes.
- Breaking learning into accessible and achievable steps.
- Adapting activities around pupil needs.
- Supporting communication and social interaction.
- Helping pupils develop emotional regulation strategies.
- Encouraging independence and resilience.
- Monitoring progress and recording meaningful observations.
- Feeding back to teachers and the SENCO.
- Contributing to intervention planning and pupil reviews.
- Sharing effective approaches with other support staff.
Experience matters in this role.
You'll ideally already have strong experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant, Intervention Assistant or 1:1 Support Assistant.
You'll also:
- Understand that behaviour can communicate an unmet need.
- Know how to adapt your approach for individual pupils.
- Be confident delivering structured interventions.
- Recognise the importance of consistency and routine.
- Build positive relationships without creating dependency.
- Be comfortable monitoring and discussing pupil progress.
- Work effectively alongside teachers and the SENCO.
- Be calm, reliable and professional.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
