Summary

What's involved with this role:

Triumph Consultants are looking for a Early Prevention and Sustainment Officer for their client to help identify people at risk of homelessness early and provide practical, person-centred advice and support to help them keep their accommodation and avoid homelessness. Contract is for 6 months in Exeter, EX1 1JN.

Early Prevention and Sustainment Officer

Pay Rate: £17.85 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday

Contract length: 6 months

Location: Exeter, EX1 1JN

Hybrid working: 3 days per week office based

A Basic DBS is required for this role.

Key requirements

Experience working with homelessness, housing or vulnerable people in a public-facing role.

Good knowledge of housing and landlord/tenant rights, including relevant homelessness legislation.

Understanding of safeguarding, welfare benefits and the support needs of homeless households.

Strong communication and partnership-working skills, with the ability to work with customers and other agencies.

Level 3 housing qualification, relevant degree or equivalent experience/training is desirable.

Key responsibilities

Identify households at risk of homelessness early and provide timely advice and practical support.

Help people sustain their accommodation, including mediation between tenants, landlords and families.

Provide housing advice and explore alternative options, including private rented and supported accommodation.

Work closely with partner agencies, including Children’s Services, Adult Social Care, Health and voluntary organisations.

Support resettlement and landlord incentive schemes, helping prevent tenancy breakdown and secure suitable accommodation.
