Summary

What's involved with this role:

Triumph Consultants are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Technician to support their client by investigating complaints, carrying out inspections and working with landlords, residents and partner agencies. Contract is for 12 months in Exeter, EX1 1JN.

Environmental Health Technician

Pay Rate: £16.35 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday

Contract length: 12 months

Location: Exeter, EX1 1JN

Hybrid working: 3 days per week office based.

Basic DBS required

Key Requirements

Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health or Housing, or significant relevant experience.

HHSRS trained, with an Award in Understanding and Applying HHSRS.

Experience in Environmental Health, particularly housing complaints, HMO licensing, Disabled Facilities Grants, empty homes and caravan site licensing.

Knowledge of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 and relevant housing offences.

Valid driving licence and own vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

Investigate housing and public health complaints and inspect private sector properties, HMOs and mobile home sites.

Assess housing conditions under HHSRS and support enforcement action, including notices, schedules of work and prosecution cases.

Support HMO licensing, Disabled Facilities Grants, empty homes investigations and energy efficiency initiatives.

Provide advice and guidance to residents, landlords and agents, working closely with partner organisations.

Maintain accurate case records and provide evidence for formal action, including attending court or tribunals where required. Support emergency and out-of-hours responses when needed.
