Our ALS department is expanding and we are excited to announce that we are looking for an additional team member to join as a SEN

Learning Mentor on a 38 Week Term Time contract, working 30 hours per week.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced candidate to join our dedicated team.

The Role 

To work with learners across the College who have a Special Educational Need ensuring each learner has access to relevant support

to gain work related skills and be able to achieve their potential. This involves, offering pastoral support and signposting to

other agencies. The post requires liaison with parents and external agencies.

Main Duties for this role include: 

* Individual pastoral support on a needs related basis including:

* Assisting curriculum staff with retention and achievement strategies.

* Attendance at Multi Agency meetings for individual students ensuring appropriate information on their progression is collated

beforehand.

* Working with identified students for action planning and behavioural management.

* Attendance tracking and chasing.

* Liaising with the College's safeguarding team.

* Make referrals as appropriate to the Additional Learning Support section, Student Liaison Officer or College Counsellor.

* Support progression events ensuring students have appropriate access to external agencies or internal staff to make informed

choices on their destination.

* Arrange visits of prospective students and show them around the college. 

Suitable candidates should have:

* Relevant experience of working with young people aged 16-19 in a pastoral, voluntary or teaching capacity

* Relevant experience of working with students with additional needs relating to social, emotional and mental health
