Summary

About the role:

The Highways and Countryside Access Enforcement officer is responsible for protecting public access to the county’s extensive highways and public rights of way network and open access land.

The role leads on the investigation and progression of enforcement action to resolve matters such as obstructions, protect highway assets, and ensure legal compliance.

You will manage a varied workload of both reactive casework and proactive enforcement activity.

About you:

You will be passionate about protecting countryside access and highway assets so that the public can enjoy them, with a proactive approach and excellent communication skills.

You will be comfortable with accessing a range of outdoor sites, ranging from development sites in urban areas to remote, rugged terrain that can only be reached on foot.

You will have experience in countryside access and / or highways asset management and be confident in delivering challenging messages. You will have experience in building working relationships with landowners and others to find practical and proportionate solutions.

You will be highly organised and pay keen attention to detail.

What you will do:

You will be responsible for managing all necessary legal and practical processes to pursue enforcement action to open and protect highways, including public rights of way, county roads and other classifications of highway and designated open access land

There is no DBS Check requirement for this position.
