Location: Stormont Buildings, East Belfast

Pay Rate: £15.14 per hour (weekly pay)

Are you an organised, detail-oriented professional with a passion for delivering excellent customer service? The Northern Ireland Assembly is seeking a highly motivated

Clerical Officer to join its team and play a key role in supporting the effective operation of Assembly business.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a prestigious public sector organisation, contributing to the democratic process while developing your administrative and organisational skills in a professional and supportive environment.

The Role

As an , Clerical Officer you will provide high-quality administrative and customer support to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing your own workload, maintaining accurate records, supporting meetings and events, and ensuring the smooth delivery of day-to-day administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and organisational objectives.
  • Provide accurate information and guidance in line with Assembly policies and procedures.
  • Support administrative activities including diary management, filing, photocopying and document preparation.
  • Maintain databases, spreadsheets and electronic filing systems.
  • Manage correspondence, emails and incoming post, ensuring prompt and accurate distribution.
  • Organise and support meetings, events and official visits.
  • Assist with the preparation and recording of meeting minutes.
  • Gather, collate and maintain information and documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Office and Assembly software systems to prepare and manage documents.
  • Maintain organised hard-copy and electronic record systems.
  • Process invoices through electronic payment systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Assembly Commission policies, including Equality, Diversity and Dignity at Work policies.
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably required.

What We're Looking For

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet

one of the following criteria:

Option 1

  • GCE A Levels (Grades A*-C) in
  • two separate subjects, and

  • Five GCSEs (Grades A-C)* including

    English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent/higher qualifications),

PLUS

A minimum of

2 years' administrative experience demonstrating:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging effectively with colleagues, customers, members of the public and management.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, producing accurate work to deadlines.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications and experience preparing documents and handling correspondence.

OR Option 2

A minimum of

4 years' administrative experience demonstrating all of the competencies listed above.
