Summary
The role:
GMCA is looking for a Central Stores Team Leader to support the day-to-day delivery of its stores, warehouse and logistics service. The role will help supervise staff, coordinate workloads, manage stock control and ensure supplies and equipment are delivered accurately, safely and on time to fire stations and other service locations.
We are looking for an organised and customer-focused logistics professional with experience in warehouse, stores or supply chain operations, strong communication skills and the ability to support a positive, safe and high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
The Central Stores Team Leader will support the effective day-to-day running of the stores, warehouse and logistics service, ensuring stock, equipment and supplies are managed safely, accurately and efficiently.
- Supervise and support Stores and Logistics staff in daily operations.
- Coordinate workloads, resources, deliveries and collections across Service locations.
- Support effective stock control, inventory management, replenishment and stocktaking.
- Ensure orders are picked, packed, loaded and delivered accurately and on time.
- Monitor service performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer service.
- Support compliance with health and safety requirements, safe systems of work and operational procedures.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deputise for the Stores and Logistics Manager when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience in warehouse, stores, logistics or supply chain operations.
- Ability to supervise, support and motivate a team.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan workloads and manage competing priorities.
- Good knowledge of stock control, inventory management and order fulfilment processes.
- Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and stock or warehouse management systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Ability to identify issues, solve problems and support service improvements.
The successful candidate will have experience in a warehouse, stores, logistics or supply chain environment, together with a full UK driving licence, good communication and well-developed IT skills, and a strong commitment to safe working practices. They will also be organised, customer-focused and able to support the effective day-to-day delivery of a busy warehouse and logistics service.
