Summary

The role:

The purpose of the role is to support the effective operation of the logistics and warehouse function located at Leigh Technical Services Centre by accurately picking, packing and preparing orders, conducting deliveries to fire stations and other locations, carrying out stock control activities, and maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, accuracy and customer service.

About you:

We are looking for a reliable and organised Transport Stores and Logistics Operative to support the effective running of the Transport Stores and Logistics function. The role involves ordering, receiving, storing and issuing vehicle and equipment parts, including consumables to help maintain fleet and equipment availability.

You will help maintain a safe, clean and efficient Transport Stores environment, complete purchase orders and stock documentation, use electronic stock systems, and provide a high standard of customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

Raise and process purchase orders for vehicle parts, equipment and consumables.
Receive, check, unload and store incoming goods, reporting any discrepancies.
Maintain accurate stock records using the relevant stores management system.
Process supplier documentation, goods receipts and invoice information accurately.
Pick, pack and prepare customer orders when required.
Support stock takes, inventory checks and investigation of stock discrepancies.
Maintain a clean, safe and organised Transport Stores environment.
Follow health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling and use of PPE.
Undertake occasional deliveries to fire stations, including loading, unloading and completing delivery documentation.
Support the wider Stores and Logistics function and cover duties as required.

The successful candidate will have experience in a vehicle parts, warehouse, stores, logistics or supply chain environment, a full UK driving licence, good communication skills, basic IT skills, and a strong commitment to safe working practices.
