Cover People are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary alternative provision in Bolton. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils in Years 1-6 who have experienced barriers to mainstream education and require additional support with their social, emotional and learning needs. The school offers a calm, nurturing environment with small class sizes, personalised learning and a strong focus on helping every child re-engage with education and achieve success.
The Role:
- Support pupils with SEND, including SEMH, Autism, ADHD and communication needs.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage confidence and engagement.
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using restorative approaches.
- Work closely with teachers, learning mentors and other professionals to support pupils' individual targets.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
- A patient, calm and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children to reach their potential.
- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.
