Summary

Brighton | Full-Time | Term Time Only

Help children build the confidence to love learning.

The move into Year 1 is an exciting milestone. Children begin to develop greater independence, build friendships, strengthen their communication skills and take important steps in their learning journey.

For some pupils, that journey requires a little extra encouragement.

Glow Educate is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brighton to recruit a Key Stage 1 Learning Mentor to join their experienced Year 1 team this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting young learners, building positive relationships and helping children develop both academically and emotionally during this important stage of their education.

About the School

The school has created a nurturing environment where children feel happy, safe and inspired to learn. Staff work collaboratively, celebrate every child's achievements and are committed to ensuring all pupils have the support they need to reach their potential.

You'll become part of a friendly Year 1 team, working alongside an experienced class teacher and fellow Teaching Assistant in a large, vibrant cohort where teamwork and communication are central to everyday practice.

The Role

Every day brings something different.

One moment you could be helping a small group develop early reading skills, the next supporting a child to build confidence in maths, encouraging positive friendships at playtime or providing personalised support to help a pupil overcome barriers to learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting teaching and learning throughout the school day within a busy Year 1 classroom

- Delivering targeted interventions, small group activities and individual support where required

- Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence

- Supporting children with additional learning or SEND needs to fully access the curriculum

- Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, patience and encouragement

- Preparing learning resources and adapting activities to suit individual needs

- Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and parents to provide the best possible outcomes for pupils

- Creating a warm, inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and motivated to succeed

We're Looking For Someone Who:

- Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school

- Understands the learning and developmental needs of Key Stage 1 pupils

- Has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (desirable but not essential)

- Is confident working both independently and as part of a classroom team

- Builds strong relationships with children through kindness, patience and positivity

- Is organised, adaptable and enthusiastic about supporting learning

- Has a genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential

Why You'll Love This Role

This is more than a classroom support position. It's an opportunity to become a trusted adult in children's lives during one of the most important stages of their primary education.

You'll join a supportive school where your ideas are valued, your development is encouraged and every member of staff works together to ensure children thrive both academically and personally.

What You'll Receive

- Full-time, term-time only position

- September start

- Ongoing support from Glow Educate throughout your placement

- Opportunities for long-term and permanent employment

- Experience within a highly supportive and collaborative school

- The chance to make a genuine difference to children's confidence, wellbeing and future success

If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant ready for your next rewarding opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
