Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs?
Cover People are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Wigan, supporting pupils aged 4-11 with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and communication needs. The school provides a highly personalised curriculum and works closely with families and therapists to ensure every child is supported to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role:
- Support pupils with a range of SEND, including ASC, SLD and communication needs.
- Work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups to deliver personalised learning.
- Assist with communication, sensory and life skills activities.
- Promote independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
- Support pupils with personal care where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet individual EHCP targets.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with SEND in a school, care or support setting.
- Knowledge of Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties or complex needs is desirable.
- A patient, nurturing and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping every child reach their potential.
