Summary
JOB SUMMARY
1. To assist the consultants to deliver direct/indirect quality clinical care to patients undergoing procedures within the specialty of Endoscopy.
2. Assessment, delivery and recording of direct and indirect care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopyprocedures and to delegated to registered nurse/and other team members when fit to do so.
3. Contribute to care of patients in transition from one care setting to another. Work within defined limits and competence whilst using own initiative with remote supervision by the Unit manager or matron.
4. The primary focus of this role is to provide aneffective and high-quality services in relation to the specified clinical procedures within theEndoscopyservice.This involves undertaking a range of clinical procedures where there is a requirement to have knowledge of the procedure, and due to the nature of the procedure being undertaken, a requirement to have a knowledge of how to deal with related non-routine activities, such as dealing with complications, answering questions, or monitoring progress during/following the procedure and to be able to give other staff assistance and guidance as and when needed.
5. The post holder will need to be highly organised, able to work without direct supervision, and be an excellent communicator, with the ability to support the team in the day-to-day operation of the Unit.
§ Assist individual patients with all care needs within department.
v § Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their relatives during their time in the department and during transition to other care environments.
§ Provide assistance and support of patients during long and potentially difficult procedures for e.g. Colonoscopies and ERCPS which require monitoring the condition/progress of the patient during the procedure.
§ Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service.
§ Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care. To deal with incidents as and when they happen and to escalate to the Unit manager.
§ Answering the telephone and recording or relaying messages timely and accurately and any other appropriate administration/clerical duties.
§ Be aware and contribute to the clinical governance agenda.
§ Provide safe transfer of patients by escorting to wards and departments as necessary
§ To deputise for the Unit Manger in their absence.
§ Any other duties as required and appropriate to the level of this post.
