The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Agronomy Manager to lead the agronomy function within a large-scale commercial soft fruit business. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing agronomic strategies that maximise crop performance, fruit quality and profitability across multiple production sites. Working closely with growers, production teams and commercial stakeholders, you will drive continuous improvement while ensuring the highest standards of sustainability, compliance and environmental stewardship.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement agronomic strategies to optimise crop yield, fruit quality, and consistency across commercial soft fruit production
- Lead and develop the agronomy team, providing technical guidance on crop nutrition, irrigation, fertigation, substrate management and crop protection
- Monitor crop performance through field assessments, data analysis, and crop health reporting, implementing improvements where required
- Develop Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and crop protection programmes while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
- Support crop forecasting, production planning, labour requirements, and commercial decision making to maximise profitability
- Work closely with growers, production teams, suppliers and external specialists to drive innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement

The Candidate:
- Degree qualified in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related discipline, with significant experience in commercial soft fruit production
- Strong technical knowledge of irrigation, fertigation, substrate growing, plant nutrition, crop protection, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Proven experience developing agronomic strategies, leading technical teams, and driving improvements in crop performance and profitability
- Good understanding of EU crop protection legislation, certification standards such as GLOBALG.A.P., and sustainable growing practices
- Excellent planning, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
- Full driving licence; BASIS, Qualified Pesticide Advisor, Entomology, Project Management qualifications, or experience within top fruit production would be advantageous
