Our client is a well-established food manufacturer supplying leading UK retailers. They have built an excellent reputation for quality, food safety and customer service, and are looking to appoint an experienced QA Manager to join their Technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional who enjoys leading people, driving standards and making a genuine impact within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Factory Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Quality Assurance function, ensuring food safety, quality and legal compliance are maintained across the site. You will lead and develop the QA and Technical Support teams while championing continuous improvement and a strong quality culture throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor and develop the QA and Technical teams.

Maintain and continually improve the site's Food Safety Management System in line with BRCGS, retailer and legislative requirements.

Take the lead during BRCGS, customer and regulatory audits.

Promote a positive food safety and quality culture across all departments.

Manage supplier approvals, customer complaints, non-conformances and root cause investigations, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.

Oversee quality control activities covering raw materials, work in progress and finished products.

Lead HACCP reviews, risk assessments and food safety programmes.

Ensure product specifications, labelling and documentation remain fully compliant with current legislation.

Monitor quality KPIs, trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

About You

Essential

Previous experience in a QA or Technical leadership role within food manufacturing.

Strong working knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety and retailer standards.

HACCP Level 3 qualification (Level 4 advantageous).

Experience leading external audits and customer visits.

Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.

Desirable

Experience within cooked meats or another high-care/high-risk food manufacturing environment.

Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.

Internal Auditor qualification.
