Summary

• The Assistant Pastor (Youths) is required to provide dedicated pastoral leadership, preaching, discipleship, mentoring, prayer support and faith formation for the church’s youth and young adults. With the growing number of young people within the congregation, the role is necessary to offer consistent spiritual guidance and support as they navigate the social pressures, changing values and challenges affecting young people in the UK. The Assistant Pastor will promote Christian values alongside respect, responsibility, integrity, inclusion, community participation and lawful conduct, helping young people to make positive decisions and develop strong character. Through regular teaching, mentoring, prayer meetings, youth fellowship and pastoral support, the role will help equip young people to resist harmful influences, avoid involvement in crime, gangs, violence, substance misuse or other negative activities, and become responsible, confident and faith-centred members of the church and wider society.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

• A clear Christian faith and recognised calling to pastoral ministry among young people and young adults.

• Ordination, ministerial commissioning, or formal recognition as a pastor, minister, youth pastor or church leader by a recognised Christian church, denomination or ministry organisation.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in Christian pastoral ministry, youth ministry, preaching, biblical teaching and discipleship.

• Demonstrable experience of leading youth worship, Bible studies, prayer meetings, mentoring programmes and faith-based outreach.

• Sound knowledge of the Bible, Christian doctrine and age-appropriate discipleship methods.

• Ability to preach and communicate biblical teaching clearly to youths and young adults.

• Experience of providing pastoral care, spiritual guidance and mentoring in a safe and appropriate manner.

• Experience of recruiting, training and supervising youth volunteers and small-group leaders.

• Strong awareness of safeguarding responsibilities, including the need to follow safeguarding procedures, maintain appropriate professional boundaries and report concerns correctly.

• Ability to work effectively with parents, guardians, church leaders and volunteers.

• Strong spoken and written English sufficient to preach, teach, mentor and provide pastoral support in the United Kingdom.

• Spiritual maturity, integrity, leadership ability and cultural sensitivity for ministry within a multinational congregation
