Location: Longsight, Manchester

Contract: Temporary

Full time/Part time: Full-time

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Pay: £102-£115 per day

Start date: September 2026

Expected End date: End of the 2026/27 academic year

A welcoming mainstream primary school in Longsight, Manchester is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team to deliver personalised academic, social, and emotional support throughout the school day. The role requires patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach to ensure the pupil feels supported, engaged, and able to thrive within the classroom.

- Providing dedicated 1:1 support, adapting learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.

- Supporting the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day.

- Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies.

- Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation using consistent approaches.

- Promoting independence while providing appropriate levels of support.

- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, parents, and external professionals where appropriate.

- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

- A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school with a strong commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs.

- Have experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.

- Be calm, patient, resilient, and nurturing in their approach.

- Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.

- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.

- Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability.

- Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable).

- Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation training (desirable).

- Free access to CPD and safeguarding training.

- Dedicated consultant and ongoing support.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2025) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.
