The ICB will oversee the commissioning of care for the approximately 2 million people who live in Essex. Operating within a reduced running cost envelope and aligned to the new requirements of ICBs in England, the ICB will focus on improving population health outcomes, health equity and smarter resource allocation. The postholder will provide technical support within the Medicines Innovation and Pathways workstream of the Integrated Care Board. The role underpins the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of high-cost medicines by managing key processes such as prior approval, invoice validation, and data reporting. This includes ensuring that funding requests are processed accurately and in line with commissioning criteria, maintaining robust approval systems and templates, and supporting governance through accurate documentation and compliance checks. The postholder will apply knowledge of medicines policy and commissioning requirements to assess applications, resolve queries, and escalate cases requiring clinical input. They will also contribute to monitoring and reporting activities that inform audits, performance reviews, and commissioning decisions. By maintaining robust processes and clear communication, this role supports patient safety, ensures compliance with commissioning requirements, and facilitates the efficient management of high-cost medicines across the system. As the ICB transitions to become a leaner, more focused strategic commissioning organisation the post holder will be expected to support the Director of Pharmacy, Medicines and Clinical Policies in delivering on the three fundamental shifts set out in the NHS 10-year plan: From Treatment to Prevention: Embedding preventative, personalised and population based approaches to commissioning. About Us Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales. Your Role Summary The post holder will work at Cygnet Afon Las, leading and developing occupational therapy provision as part of the interdisciplinary team. They will also be responsible for the clinical supervision of the Occupational Therapy Assistant. Post: Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist Site: Cygnet Afon Las Service Line: Neuropsychiatry Salar y: £50,632 per annum Hours: 40 hours Contract: Permanent Start Date: March 2027 Cygnet Afon Las (Corwen, Denbighshire) Cygnet Afon Las is a brand-new, 15-bed neurocognitive service for men, scheduled to open in early 2027. The service will provide specialist assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and longer-term support for individuals with complex and enduring neurocognitive needs who may be unable to access more traditional neurorehabilitation services or live safely and independently within the community. Individuals may present with long-standing acquired brain injury, cognitive impairment, dementia or other neurodegenerative conditions, sometimes alongside complex physical health needs. Some may also have complex risk histories, including previous offending, and may be subject to Ministry of Justice restrictions. Afon Las will provide a structured and therapeutic hospital environment in which individual needs and risks can be safely supported. Referrals may be received from a range of pathways, including community, neurosurgical, neurorehabilitation and custodial settings. Through interdisciplinary working, the service will maximise person-centred outcomes, occupational participation, independence and quality of life, while keeping each individual at the heart of their care and rehabilitation. Occupational Therapy Directorate Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors, we support over 165 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development. Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
