    The Anaesthetic department and the Intensive care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital are active in audits and research and there will be plenty of opportunity to participate in Quality improvement projects and Research. Regular formal teaching sessions and journal club also form part of the learning available. Anaesthesia is provided for elective and emergency surgery in the operating theatre complex of 6 main, 3 day-surgery and 1 obstetric theatre. The CEPOD theatre and obstetric theatre are available 24 hours per day. There is a resident anaesthetic consultant for CEPOD from 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays and for part of the day at weekends. We will work with you to shape the ideal job plan upon successful appointment, and review it with you after three months and then annually – so you can keep the perfect fit. We will also provide the essential resources to support you in your duties, including administrative support. It will include pre, per and post-operative management of surgical patients, assisting with care of the patients on the ICU, and provision of assistance with resuscitation calls and acute pain queries. Travel to other sites within the Trust will have to be anticipated to allow for full teaching experience.     The overall purpose of the Lung Cancer Screening is to enable the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives. Coventry & Warwickshire Health & Care Partnership and the West Midlands Cancer Alliance has identified high disease and smoking prevalence areas within Coventry where a significant impact can be made from detecting early-stage lung cancer. The post holder will be expected to be flexible, responsive, and provide specialist knowledge to the patient (and their carers where applicable) assessing eligibility for lung cancer screening, assessing symptomatic patients and escalating as appropriate, consenting eligible patients to low dose CT scan, reviewing and sending LDCT scan results, as well as suspected lung cancer referrals and managing incidental findings as per protocol (i.e. SRM, GP, etc). Attention to detail and excellent organisation skills are of paramount importance. This post requires someone confident with spending a large amount of time on the phone to patients. They will support community and secondary care colleagues in the effective management of patients with clinical responsibility for a defined patient group. The post holder will be able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. Interviews are proposed for week commencing 28th September.     Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology With Special Interest in Cancer Diagnostics, One-Stop Clinics, Ambulatory Gynaecology and Colposcopy This post has arisen as part of phase 1 consultant workforce expansion with aim of improving FDS performance and cancer treatment pathway.The appointment will support the delivery of high-quality, sustainable obstetric and gynaecological services, ensuring appropriate consultant presence on the labour ward, maintaining elective and ambulatory gynaecology activity, and providing supervision and training in line with current postgraduate curricula. The successful candidate will be a General Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in gynaecological cancer diagnostics, including ultrasound-based one-stop clinics (USC), ambulatory gynaecology pathways, and colposcopy. The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of rapid diagnostic pathways, ambulatory services, and outpatient-based care models aligned with national cancer strategy and modern gynaecological practice. The post holder will participate in the resident consultant on-call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Women and Children’s Hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary. Consultant expansion is underway, and the on-call model is evolving towards a sustainable structure with dedicated resident obstetric consultant cover supported by separate consultant on-call provision for gynaecology. 1. A standard full time Job Plan will contain 10 programmed activities (PAs) comprising 8 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 2 for supporting activities (SPAs). 1.5 SPAs are classed as ‘core’ and cover time for training, teaching, CPD, audit, appraisal, clinical governance and attendance at service meetings. There are opportunities to participate in undergraduate teaching within the HYMS medical school curriculum. Additional SPA time can be allocated for research, clinical management and educational supervisor (ES) activity. It is expected that the appointee will have completed ES training or complete this within a short time of taking up the post. All new appointees will be encouraged to develop their management skills by taking on a management role which could include assisting more senior colleagues with the organisation of educational activities, College Tutor, audit lead, junior doctor management, recruitment etc. Personal preferences can be considered, and training will be given for the chosen role.
