    As a Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of projects on Thames Water buildings. This includes structural projects (Lifecycle) and the delivery of facilities for staff (Welfare), on our huge range of buildings, which include Listed buildings and those of operational importance. You manage a portfolio of projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £2million, from scoping the projects from scratch to completion, including reporting throughout and managing the handover. Please note that the internal job title for this role is ‘Project Engineer'. What you’ll be doing as a Construction Project Manager - Independently scope and deliver projects, working closely with Operational Specialists to define requirements. - Manage the end-to-end tender process, including contractor selection, evaluation and award. - Ensure full CDM and health & safety compliance, acting as Client and overseeing Principal Designers and Contractors. - Review pre-construction documentation, including Construction Phase Plans, RAMS and H&S plans, ensuring safe project delivery. - Coordinate contractor inductions and communicate relevant site risks and hazards. - Monitor project performance across health & safety, environmental, quality, programme and budget targets, maintaining accurate records. - Manage contractor performance, resources and site issues, liaising regularly with Controllers of Premises. - Forecast and report project expenditure, escalating risks where required and ensuring compliance with company governance procedures.     Working as part of our clients Technical Team, you are one of the go-to people for managing large, technical and complex repair work involving commercial, residential and industrial properties. You demonstrate and implement successful strategies to deliver projects from end to end, whilst being part of a technical hub of knowledge to assist other departments when negotiating Third Party Property Damage (TTPD claims). All this whilst ensuring all works are compliant, commercially sound and completed to the highest of standards. Key Responsibilities • Attend sites across the UK to carry out surveys solo or with the accompaniment of engineers, building surveyors, subcontractors or other professionals, to determine cause of loss, and create a repair scheme to reinstate the damaged property to the correct level of indemnity. • Manage the TPPD claim throughout its lifecycle, responsible for progressing within agreed upon SLAs, compiling all relevant documentation to support its journey including but not limited to cashflow forecasts, programmes of work, variations, schedules, quotes, reports, court compliant reports. • Set the standard for health and safety and statutory compliance across works involving local authority liaison, listed building officers, environment agency, highways departments, building control and other entities. • Manage and lead a team of directly employed and subcontracted operatives onsite and remotely, answering site queries, ensuring quality assurance, project delivery, all within agreed timeframes and tolerances. • Manage all internal and external stakeholders within the process, adapting to preferred communication styles and methods, delivering a bespoke service to suit the needs of the individual. • Provide a go-to referral point for all matters relating to the world of construction, staying up to date with current matters affecting the built environment we operate in, apt at procuring new information when needed. • Conducting desk-based file reviews assisting with formal and informal referrals on high value, technically complex buildings damage and unconventional items to provide a written report, guidance for the attending Surveyor, or cost recommendations and where needed, compiling court compliant documents. • Undertaking additional duties on an occasional or ongoing basis as requested by management to support the wider Building Solutions Team, or to support the technical buildings knowledge of the wider business. A Technician with Construction Skills offers a chance for you to carry out a varied role where you will help support and develop of the facilities on offer. Key Responsibilities: • Technical Support: Provide hands-on assistance to staff and students in workshop sessions, ensuring the smooth delivery of programs in Joinery. • Program Support: Actively contribute to the success of our Construction departments by offering technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance. You will have the opportunity to work in our workshops and you will use your knowledge, experience and ideas to continuously improve our current processes and procedures with the potential to develop these further to create the best training facilities in South Yorkshire. You will also be responsible for providing technical assistance and advice by taking an active role in supporting academic staff and students in all workshop activities. Have you got what it takes to be successful? To be successful as a Construction Technician you will need; Construction Background: A strong understanding of various aspects of Joinery and different specialist practices is essential. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain workshop equipment and tools. Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and provide timely solutions. You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake), training in Health and Safety Principles and First Aid at Work but these are not essential. You should also have a Level 2 (or above) vocationally relevant qualification in a core discipline. Department Info The role of Technician will work closely with our team of Technicians within the areas of Construction and Engineering, supporting our Lecturers and Curriculum Team Leaders as well as Apprenticeship Skills Tutors in practical workshop sessions. You will report to the Curriculum Team Leader within the designated area on a day-to-day basis.
