Summary

Main Duties:

Personal Duties: Purpose of the Young Female's Direct Payments

The young female's Direct Payments will be used to support her in four key areas:

Getting out of the house regularly.

Making use of local community facilities and services.

Improving her confidence in socialising with others.

Developing a better structure and routine throughout the week.

These outcomes relate directly to the Care Act domains of making use of necessary facilities and services in the local community, developing and maintaining personal relationships, and accessing and engaging in work, training, education, volunteering, and recreational activities.

How Direct Payments Will Support the Young Female

1. Support to Get Out of the House

The young female experiences stress and anxiety when leaving the home independently. Direct Payments will fund:

Personal Assistant (PA) support to encourage and accompany her on planned outings.

Travel assistance, including PA mileage where required.

Confidence-building support to help her feel safe and comfortable when leaving the home.

Expected impact: The young female will be supported to leave the house more frequently, reduce social isolation, and establish a more meaningful weekly routine.

2. Making Use of the Local Community

The young female wishes to access local facilities and activities but requires support to do so safely and confidently. Direct Payments will be used for:

PA support to access community activities such as walks, shopping trips, the cinema, cafés, and local parks.

Support to attend structured activities, including craft groups, gentle exercise sessions, and community events.

Assistance with accessing transport and navigating the community safely, as she has limited awareness of road safety and requires supervision when out in the community.

Expected impact: The young female will become more familiar with her local area, participate in meaningful activities, and increase her confidence in community settings.

3. Improving Confidence in Socialising

The young female finds social situations challenging and benefits from reassurance, modelling, and gradual exposure to social opportunities. Direct Payments will fund:

PA support to attend social and community groups.

Guided support to develop social confidence through positive encouragement and structured interactions.

Support to engage in community-based activities such as arts and crafts groups, classes, and local events.

Expected impact: The young female will have increased opportunities to form social connections, develop communication skills, and build confidence when interacting with others.

4. Developing a Better Structure and Routine

The young female currently finds it difficult to establish and maintain a consistent routine, which impacts upon her wellbeing, motivation, and engagement in meaningful activities. Direct Payments will support her to:

Develop a weekly activity schedule alongside her PA.

Establish regular routines through planned outings, exercise, social opportunities, and community activities.

Increase her involvement in planning activities and making choices about how she spends her time.

Use regular community activities as anchors within her week to promote consistency and predictability.

Expected impact: The young female will benefit from a clearer weekly structure, improved motivation, increased engagement in meaningful activities, and greater emotional wellbeing.

Hours of work: 15 hours per week.

This job is for 2 positions, one serving as the main PA and the other one serving as the backup PA.

Essential requirements

Skills & Experience: Experience in working with young people with Autism and OCD behaviours. Needs to be confident in building up a positive trusting relationship with the young female and to be patient and understanding of her needs.
