Summary
Step into this Senior Media Relations Executive role and build something that matters in PR & Communications.
Media coverage doesn't happen by accident. It's chased, pitched, and shaped by people who understand journalists as well as they understand the brands they represent. This growing PR & Communications consultancy in Nottingham has built a solid reputation working with clients who need more than a press release and a prayer, and it's now looking for a Senior Media Relations Executive to help drive that work forward. The team is established but still expanding, which means you'd join at a point where your input actually shapes how things get done.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors, and broadcast contacts across relevant sectors
Drafting press releases, media pitches, and briefing documents that land coverage, not just inboxes
Managing reactive and proactive media enquiries on behalf of client accounts
Monitoring news agendas daily and spotting opportunities for client commentary or story angles
Supporting campaign planning and reporting back on coverage results with clear, honest analysis
Briefing junior team members and reviewing their media outreach before it goes out
Here are the skills you'll need:
Solid experience in a media relations, PR agency, or press office environment
Confident written English with an eye for what makes a story newsworthy
Comfortable picking up the phone to pitch a journalist, not just emailing and hoping
Organised enough to juggle multiple client accounts without dropping a deadline
A genuine interest in current affairs and how news cycles move
Some experience mentoring or checking the work of more junior colleagues is useful, though not essential
Key perks and benefits:
Salary of £22,500 to £33,500, depending on experience
Hybrid working, with a mix of office time in Nottingham and remote flexibility
Private medical insurance and pension contribution
Bonus scheme tied to performance, plus generous annual leave
Genuine professional development opportunities within a structured but flexible team
Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?
PR & Communications has grown well beyond press releases and photocalls. Clients now expect strategic counsel across earned, owned, and social channels, and that's opened up real progression routes for people who can write well and think on their feet. Nottingham has a thriving agency scene supporting national and regional clients alike, so a Senior Media Relations Executive based here isn't short of scope to build a career. Good instincts and persistence still count for more than any tool in this line of work.
